In 1989, Joan moved to Maine from Michigan and she has belonged to SOS since its beginning.  Her husband Rick was on the Board until  he became a Wells selectman. She has served on the SOS Board for two years.  She has two children, Stephen (who is married with two children and lives in Norwood, MA) and Thomas (who is also married with two children and lives in Grosse Pointe, MI). 

Joan works as a Sr. Registered Associate with Smith Barney in Portland and  has been with Smith Barney or its predecessors for 16 years. Her hobbies are golf, tennis, hiking, biking, needlepoint and knitting. She is also a member of the Wells Library Board of Directors and a member of the Wells Conservation Commission. She volunteered to be on the Board of SOS because she felt that SOS needed some representation from the "non-beach, West of the Turnpike" area of Wells.
